kaiba in orangesque shades [13 Mar 2005|08:13pm]

[ mood | busy ]

I just love this picture of Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh. I think darklittleaibou said it was from the movie; she's the one who gave it to me. The colors are great, and are orangesque ^^ And the smug expression is priceless as well. Though, Kaiba is always smug....

Tangerine Dream [11 Sep 2004|04:51pm]

Do As Infinity, the Japanese band who's done such songs as "Fukai Mori" from Inu Yasha, has a song called "Tangerine Dream"! And it's actually quite good; quasi pop-rock. Sadly, I can't understand the lyrics, seeing as they're in Japanese. But, I can listen to the music and appreciate the title ^^ If anyone would like the mp3, catch me on AIM sometime and I'll try to send it to you.

Speaking of Tangerine Dream, if any of our newer members are looking for an orange-esque pseudonym to use in the community, I'd say that's a mighty cool one ^^

Request from an Empty Vista [17 Jun 2004|12:52am]

[ mood | tangy like a mango, er-orange! ]

blank--a clean sheet
pure solitary boring emptiness of thought
Woke up to a white world that's in
the middle of a cloven dream sequence
Why wake if there's no color to behold,
no green or rich blues, red yellow, orange hues?
Orange, I think, would be a choice best,
for it serves the rousing expanse of morning
and is the bearer of the world's citrus needs
No rhyme does it need, nor explanation of crux,
for its spirit defies mortality to electrify the dawn.

Beyond a Citrus Sunset [24 May 2004|09:55pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

Final rays of discolored light darted through the hills and over the wooded canopy to the river--to be soaked up by two desperate eyes. Calintz wished the night would delay just a little longer. The night meant the end of his journey, and he knew he hadn't traveled half as far today as he should have. His injury kept him falling shorter and shorter of his desired speed, and tonight was the New Moon; there would be no traveling 'till morning.

The departing sun reflected across his skin, bringing shadows to nestle in his sallow cheeks and beneath his eyes. His skin, still young but roughened with turmoil, glowed orange and his hair turned to fire in the setting sun's glare. In response to the wind, he rubbed his cheek against the fur collar of his coat; a cold night lay ahead of him. Building a fire, even a humble one, was out of the question. Hunter Wolves would be out in full tonight, and the last thing Calintz needed now was a beacon of his presence.

The sun gave way inch by inch beyond the darkening trees, and soon he was left re-bandaging his thigh in bitter darkness. Howls resounded through the hills, structured and sequenced howls which could only be the Hunter Wolves searching for him. Calintz knew it wouldn't be long before they sniffed out his bloody bandage or followed his clumsy, stumbling trail.

Images returned to him of his final moments of day, there in the orange-tinted forest made so by the retreating sun. However, the sunset was just as much a motherly protection from wolves as it was a notion of doom. As the sun gave way beneath the hills it was as though it whispered goodbye in its final breath of light. "I cannot stay for you any longer," it whispered into his heart. "You are on your own now."

And alone he was. Bloodied and huddled inside a forest nook in a jacket that was too small for him, with memories of the citrus sunset as the only fire now to warm him. The sun had said farewell that night--farewell to this doomed boy it was now abandoning to the night and to the wolves who ruled it.

some poetry bits [12 May 2004|06:55pm]

[ mood | chipper ]

It was but a fleeting moment; an
ephemeral tragedian's dream.
Tried to live and let it go, but it remains,
inscribed in cream tangerine.
I've a vampire's need to live and be beautiful;
it has left me now hollow.
Damn my luck! I've grown to love a thing
that I'll never grow to know.
But I'll rewrite those depressing memoirs!
and they'll remain in my soul,
Eteched as premonition of the future,
reminding I'm not yet whole.
Now it is orange, my shade, that conquers
my world's anonymity.
Leave me to seach my bitter creative juices;

I am a citrus tragedy.

* * * *

Orange foam, swirl swirl, ecstatic miasma.
The moon's awake and wants a taste
of its surging orange plasma.
Grey recedes--it knows that citrus is the rising Master.
Unforgiving takes the throne carved of tangy alabaster.
Whirlpool, swirl swirl, among a hundred islands,
straight from hell with souls to sell,
condemned me for my silence.
And so I speak:
it's not my fault the miasma took hold of ye.
Foam, rise to the surface and down.
Another citrus tragedy.

Here are some images I've come across that have caught my citrus interest, and I thought I'd share them at the Orange, as I like to call this place. It's just a baby now, this community, but in time more will come :)
